Bhubaneswar: Paddy procurement for rabi crop will start in 19 districts of the State from tomorrow and continue till June 30.

The State-level paddy procurement committee has targetted to procure 26 quintals paddy per acre from farmers in Bargarh, Subarbanpur and Sambalpur whereas in the remaining 16 districts, 24 quintals paddy per acre are expected to be procured.

Meanwhile, the Bargarh district administration has decided to begin rabi paddy procurement from May 5 and continue for 45 days as per the procurement norms set by the State government.

The Odisha government has targetted to procure 60 lakh metric tonne (MT) paddy during kharif and rabi seasons this year as against 51-52 lakh metric tonnes paddy procured last year.
