Cuttack/Bhubaneswar: The growth rate of Odisha is higher than that of the country and the State is at par with other states as far as development is concerned, said Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in his address during the Republic Day celebration at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack.

After hoisting the National flag, the CM said, "Odisha has developed on all fronts, including economy, health, education, industries and infrastructure and it is at par with many developed states. The State's growth rate is better than the national average. "

He further said that the State that has been ideal in implementation of various welfare schemes is taking various measures for development of women. Besides, Patnaik called upon all stakeholders to come forward and make concerted efforts for the all-round development of the State.

Similarly, Governor SC Jamir unfurled the Tricolour at the Mahatma Gandhi Road in Bhubaneswar.

To counter any unforeseen attack from terror groups during the Republic Day parade, 12 commandos of the National Security Guard (NSG) were deployed to guard the Mahatma Gandhi Marg.

Meanwhile, tight security arrangements were made in Maoist-affected districts like Malkangiri, Rayagada, Koraput, Kandhamal, Bolangir and Gajapati.
