Bhubaneswar: Taking strong exception to the inordinate delay in registration and renewal of clinical establishment licence, the All Odisha Private Medical Establishment Forum (AOPMEF) has decided to close down all private medical colleges in the state on November 1.

In a press briefing here today, the Forum said repeated reminders to the state government to expedite the process for registration and renewnal of clincal establishment licence have fallen in deaf ears as the state government has shown any urgency in this regard.

Apart from this, the Forum also demanded amendment in the Fire Safefy Act with immediate effect.

“The state government should invite all employees of the private medical colleges for an across-the-table meeting to discuss the issues threadbare to find a solution at the earliest possible,” it added.

The members of the Forum informed that the employees of the private medical colleges will resort to a one-day token strike wearing black badges.

However, they made it clear that despite the strike, health care of the patients admitted to the private hospitals as well as emergency services will not be affected.
