Puri: Announcing a slew of various reformative developments for Puri Jagannath temple, the shrine administration on Friday informed to set up a heritage park at Jagannath Ballav Math.

Informing this to media persons after attending a meeting chaired by Puri Gajapati Dibyasingha Deb, temple administrator Suresh Mohaptra said in 42 acre land of the math, basically the Pleasure Garden of the Lord, developments will be carried out through various projects. A park will be established inside the premises of the math.

"Detail design and concept of the park was discussed during the meeting with Gajapati along with other experts and members of technical committee," Mohapatra said adding the math will encompass a multi-storeyed parking lot for facilitating vehicle parking. The pond present inside the math will also be renovated.

The heritage park will contain plantations of various flowering plants and timber which are generally used for daily rituals of Lord Jagannath.

"A committee has been set up which will finalise the detail ramifications of the projects and thereafter it will be implemented," Mohaptra added.

"Secondly, the museum present inside the Sri Mandir premises which is in dilapidated condition will be completely reconstructed and new designs and concept will be prepared for the same," the temple administrator said.

"Thirdly, beautification of the interiors of Gundicha Temple will be done by panelling pattachitras of legendary tales and mythology of Lord Jagannath," Mohaptra said.

Similarly beautification of Atharnala and Musha stream will also be carried out. A total of 30 to 40 crores is likely to be allocated for the projects.
