Bhubaneswar: Puri Shankaracharya Swami Nischalananda Saraswati, who is on a 10-day visit to Nepal, visited the Pashupatinath Temple in Kathmandu for the first time today.

The Puri seer was invited by Nepal Prime Minister Khadga Prasad Sharma Oli and the Pashupatinath Temple Board.

After his arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu on Sunday, Shankaracharya received a rousing reception from the trustees of the Pashupatinath Temple Board. He was escorted to his place of residence in Agrawal Bhawan amid tight security.

During his stay in Nepal, the Puri seer will give discourse on religion and spiritualism at Hansa Mandap situated at Pashupatinath Mandir premises. A seminar on various religious issues is also lined up at Agrawal Bhawan on May 14 and 15.

A grand public reception will be given to him on May 15 at Tundi Khel ground after which he will deliver a religious discourse at Golden Gate International College. On May 16, he will deliver another religious discourse at Tribhuvan University.

On May 17, he will board a flight from Tribhuvan Airport to Bharatpur Chitwan where he will stay at Mankamna Tole and address a seminar on various religious issues on May 18.

The Shankaracharya will also attend programmes at Hetouda on May 19 and at Birgunj on May 21.
The Puri seer will leave for Raxaul Station On May 22 from where he will board Mithila Express to reach Kolkata.
