Puri seer slams poor governance, inept people representatives

Puri: Shankaracharya of Gobardhan Peeth, Swami Nischalananda Saraswati, today expressed his resentment over the mode of governance and the attitude of the people representatives in Odisha.

“I must say the governance is Odisha has lost its direction and the attitude of the people representatives leaves a lot to be desired,” the seer said in his address on the occasion of foundation stone laying ceremony of Goddess Bimala temple inside Gobardhan Peeth here.

Talking about the state of education, Saraswati said as the main objective of education now-a-days is to earn money, there is no religious sentiment among the people. “As a result, the development of the country has taken a nosedive,” he pointed out.

The Puri seer also came down heavily on the mode of governance in Odisha.

“Religion always remains above the governance. But in contrast, the Odisha government has taken charge of Shri Jagannath temple administration,” he observed.

Present on the occasion, former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda said there will peace, harmony and fraternity in the country if people are focussed on spirituality.

“If we want peace and development in this world, we must ensure that along with material development, there should be spiritual development as well,” he noted.
