Puri: Standup comedian Tatwa Prakash Satapathy alias Papu Pom Pom who landed in fresh trouble after giving controversial remark against Lord Jagannath and Goddess Tulsi, visited the pilgrim town late on Thursday night and prostrated in front of Singha Dwara of Sri Jagannath temple here to seek forgiveness from the deities for his controversial remark.

However, he did not enter inside the temple as the temple was closed that time.

After seeking forgiveness from the deities, Papu said, “Whenever I do a programme, I start it by chanting Jai Jagannath. I apologise for my mistake. I hope Lord Jagannath and Jagannath devotes will forgive me.”

Notably, Papu was in news again after giving controversial remark against Lord Jagannath and goddess Tulsi on the concluding day of the three-day beach festival in Puri.

For the sake of fun, the actor had said on the stage that Tulsi plant, on which dog urinates is offered to Lord Jagannath. “Who prays Lord Jagannath, he would take rebirth as canine. Because, Tulsi is offered to the Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra, Subhadra and Lord Vishnu after dog grants it”, Papu had said satirically.

The remark had invited stiff criticism from the audience, who forced the popular actor to apologise on Stage.

Following the incident, the activists of Lulu Sena threw ink at Papu at Cuttack road on November 30 while he was returning from a shooting location.

The ardent supporters of the late Congress leader Lalatendu Bidyadhar Mohapatra laced ink on his face and body even after the expelled BJD leader begged excuse by holding ears inside his car.
