Puri lawyer murder: Grilling of wife, kin underway

Puri: On the basis of the statement of the three arrested accused in the brutal murder of lawyer and lodge owner Chandan Behera, police have started interrogation of his wife and kin.

Talking to media persons here today, Puri SP Sarthak Sarangi said police have found new angles in this case after interrogating the three accused who were involved in the brutal murder of Chandan Behera. “On the basis of their statement, we have brought Chandan Behera's wife and kin under the purview of our investigation and started their interrogation,” he added.

He further said the prima facie evidence suggests that the murder was the outcome of property related dispute. “But as he conspirators have executed the murder through these accused, the investigation will take a little time,” he pointed out.

After the interrogation of the three murder accused, police had brought the wife and kin of Chandan from Rourkela for interrogation.

Notably, Chandan Behera was attacked by two armed miscreants near Sai Kutir Lodge gate in the late evening on January 8 while he was entering the lodge premises along with his friend Krushna Chandra Pradhan in a scooter.

The two miscreants hacked Behera’s neck and hand in sharp weapons leading to his death on the spot while his friend sustained severe injuries.
