Bhubaneswar: Puri Gajapati Dibyasingh Deb today met Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at the State Secretariat in Bhubaneswar and presented a five-point plan for overall development of Shri Jagannath temple (Srimandir) and Gundicha temple.

Deb made a PowerPoint presentation seeking CM Naveen's approval.

"Plans pertaining to development and restoration of ‘Uttara Parswa Matha,’ ‘Dakishana Parswa Matha,’ ‘Emara Matha’ and propagation of the Jagannath culture were presented during the meeting,” said Deb.

Plans for development of the Shree Gundicha temple including installation of a Pattachitra depicting mythology in ‘Bhitara Behda,’ beautification of garden, restoration of the heritage garden of ‘Jagannath Ballav Matha’ were also presented before the CM.

The Puri Gajapati also put forth plans for beautification and development of ‘Bada Danda’ and restoration and beautification of ‘Athara Nala’ during the meeting.

Among others, chief administrator of Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) Pradeep Kumar Jena, Law Minister Pratap Jena, Revenue Minister Maheswar Mohanty, Chief Secretary AP Padhi and Development Commissioner R. Balakrishnan were present in the meeting.

The temple managing committee yesterday approved Sri Mandir Adarsha Gurukulam scheme under which free education will be provided to children of temple servitors. Besides, a housing project for poor servitors was also approved by the managing committee.
