Puri: Justice BP Das Commission of Inquiry for Reforms in Puri Srimandir submitted its second interim report to the Odisha government today suggesting several measures for widespread propagation of history and culture of Lord Jagannath.

Secretary of the panel BP Parija submitted the 48-page report to the Law Minister.

“In the extensive report, the panel has recommended various ways for promotion and propagation of ancient culture of Lord Jagannath, its millennia old history and various places associated with it,” Justice Das informed OTV.

This apart, steps suggesting various welfare measures for the servitors of Srimandir and other reforms for the temple have also been mentioned in the report.

The commission in its first interim report on April 20, 2017 had recommended steps on strengthening security inside the temple by deploying additional security forces.

Besides, it had also suggested other infrastructural developments like widening of roads around the temple to ensure easy movement of ambulances, deployment of fire tenders for exigencies, sanitation and cleanliness inside the temple.

It is worthwhile to mention here that the commission was set up by the state government in January 2016. The commission had devised six terms of reference including overall security of the temple, security of the servitors, enhancement of aesthetic quality and beautification of the temple, propagation of Jagannath culture, etc to suggest reforms.
