Puri: Puri Gajapati Dibya Singh Dev on Saturday expressed distress over the incessant delay in reconstitution of the Shree Jagannath Temple managing committee by the Odisha government.

Speaking to the media, Dibya Singh Dev said the delay is creating problems and the government must reconstitute the committee soon.

It has already been seven months since the tenure of the last panel ended but the government is yet to reconstitute the Srimandir managing committee, he said.

“We have written to the Chief Minister and I even personally met the CM and the Law minister and apprised them of the matter,” Singh Dev said, adding that the government must reconstitute the committee without any further delay.

The tenure of the last panel ended on July 23 last year.

As per the temple tradition, the state government reconstitutes the Srimandir managing committee every three years and the Gajapati king is its permanent chairperson.
