Puri: An important meeting regarding the Puri Swargadwar (crematorium) land grab case was held in the Circuit House, under the chairmanship of the Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC) Central Zone, today. Puri Collector, SP and Settlement Officer were also present in the meeting.

After the meeting Puri Collector Arvind Agrawal informed that documents for the calculation of the actual area of land have been sought from Puri Shankaracharya.

Notably, the 16-acre land was allotted for the Swargadwar by the Shankaracharya mutt; however, there are no land records for the same at the designated place. The administration is probing how business establishments came up in the area and under whose name the land has been transferred.

Talking to media persons Agrawal said, "We are currently probing into the circumstances that led to the transfer of the 16.4-acre land. According to preliminary investigation some land has been transferred after getting permission from Shankaracharya mutt and a sale deed has been registered.”

He further added, “We can reach on a decision after checking the case records and we will take all possible measures to get the 16.4-acre Swargadwar land back. We will check the power of attorney on basis of which the sale deed was registered. We will also take the help of the Shankaracharya mutt to find out if the documents are genuine or forged."
