Puri admin to reclaim govt land encroached by Dera ashram

Puri: The process to reclaim the government land encroached by Dera Sacha Sauda ashram in Puri has been initiated, informed sub collector Madhusudan Das today.

The ashram has encroached nearly 12 decimil of government land, as per an enquiry report. Puri Tehsildar has started the eviction process as per the instruction of Das.

The ashram authorities will be sent a notice prior to the eviction. Demarcation of the land was done yesterday in presence of the Tehsildar.

"The enquiry report has been received, they have encroached nearly 12 decimil land. The Tehsildar has already initiated a case against them, an eviction notice will be sent and we will reclaim the land," said Das.

According to sources, the ashram had bought four acres of land in 1977, but had encroached another 12 decimil government land, subsequently.
