Bhubaneswar: Keeping in view the intense heat wave condition and acute water crisis, MP Baijayant Panda on Wednesday urged Kendrapara district adminsitration to provide public access to completed MPLADS drinking water projects in the region.

In a letter to Kendrapara Collector Reghu G, Panda sought urgent measures for granting public access to both completed and about to be completed drinking water projects in his constituency.

"I am presently in Delhi on account of the ongoing session of Parliament, rather than wait for the formal inaguration of these projects, they should be made available for the public's benefit immediately," wrote Panda in his letter.

The Parliamentarian has highlighted, several drinking water projects have either been completed or are on the verge of completion including rural overhead tanks at Marshaghai, Sansidha, Jalapoka, Gogua and Mahajanpur.

Official sources said Panda is the lone MP to have recommended 90 percent of his total MPLAD funds (Rs 19.25 cr) for rural drinking water projects which is a national high.
