Bhubaneswar: Even as two CBSE officials deputed by Union HRD minister Prakash Javadekar to look into the discrepancies in Class XII results reached the city today, the protests outside the CBSE office turned fierce with students wings of political groups joining in.
Biju Chhatra Janata Dal members tried to forcibly enter the region CBSE office along with parents of the Class XII students protesting outside the office since the last three days. When police tried to stop the agitators, there was a clash. Student Congress members also joined in the agitation.
Controller of examination KK Choudhary and deputy secretary DK Goyal of the CBSE headquarters arrived in the city to discuss the issue of discrepancy in results with the officials here.
The problem of the students would be looked into by 10 teams to be formed at the board's regional centres, a CBSE official said.
Steps have been taken to resolve the issue in 15 days, said CBSE assistant secretary Jagabandhu Pradhan. He, however, made it clear that there was no provision of re-evaluation of papers and only photocopies of answer sheets can be provided to the students who make a request for the same.
Later in the evening, the students and their parents met Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
Scores of students from schools under the Bhubaneswar region of the CBSE have alleged that they had secured poor marks due to faulty evaluation, while many others claimed their results were withheld without citing any reason.
On Monday, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik wrote to the Union HRD minister to take up the matter since hundreds of Class XII students are suffering owing to results of many being initially withheld and later allegedly showing disparity.
Union Minister for Petroleum Dharmendra Pradhan had also met the students outside the CBSE office here. Later, the HRD minister, Javadekar had tweeted that he deputed two officials to resolve the issue.
As per latest updates, the two officials have discussed the modalities with the officials at the region CBSE office. The issue will be resolved in 15 days, informed Jagabandhu Pradhan, assistant secretary, CBSE, Bhubaneswar.
