Process for adoption of girl child rescued from Koraput forest begins

Jeypore: The Central Adoption Resource Authority (CARA) has asked the Koraput Child Protection Officer to initiate adoption process for an 11-month-old baby girl, who was rescued from Nilagiri forest in Borigumma of Koraput district on July 12.

Koraput Child Protection Officer Rajashree Das stated, "The CARA has given a go ahead to start the process for adoption of the child. A notification on this will be issued soon."

The DCPO had written to the CARA on August 21 seeking suggestions on the matter.
Though more than two months have elapsed, police have failed to establish identity of the baby girl.

She was found crying alone on July 12 near the dead body of her mother in Nilagiri forest and was rescued by locals. After receiving information, Borigumma police rushed to the spot and handed over the baby to Childline.
