Probe ordered against KIIT, KIMS, KISS for flouting environment norms

Bhubaneswar: Odisha government today ordered a probe into the alleged environmental imbalance created by city-based Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT), Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) and Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS).

According to sources, the special secretary of Forest & Environment department has asked the Khurda Collector to conduct a probe and take necessary action against the institutions.

Petitioner Subash Mohapatra had alleged that the aforementioned institutes have created an environmental imbalance in Chandrasekharpur area of Bhubaneswar by constructing buildings, school and hospital violating environmental laws and water & air acts.

Meanwhile, the authorities of the institutes declined to comment on the matter citing that they are yet to receive any communication.
