Malkangiri: A team of two members is scheduled to visit Gurupriya Bridge site today to investigate the reason behind the collapse of the girders in the Bridge situated at Chitrakonda in Malkangiri district.

The team will be accompanied by chief engineer of Works Department and on the basis of their report further legal steps will be taken.

On Monday afternoon three girders placed above 10 and 11 number pier had collapsed. After the incident, Works Department secretary stated that before the anchoring of the girder was completed, the slaps collapsed due to heavy winds following which the construction deadline of the bridge will get delayed by two months.

Meanwhile, bending of piers in the bridge was reported earlier.

However, till today work for 136 pier has been completed and work of concrete girder at four places is still pending for the bridge.

Similarly, works of steel girder is going on for 12 and 17 number pier and out of 21 slabs, work for 9 has been completed.
