Principal of Govt College of Physical Education suspended

Bhubaneswar: The Sports Department today suspended the Principal of Government College of Physical Education (GCPE) Manmohan Rout for alleged irregularities in the admission into Master of Physical Education (MPEd) and Bachelor of Physical Education this year (BPEd).

According to sources, a merit list for admission to 40 seats of the MPEd course in the college was published on October 27. In the list, Chinmayee Sahu, a girl student, was enlisted in the merit category for the admission even though she was ineligible for the same. Citing this irregularity, the state government dismissed the Principal of the college, said Sports Minister Chandra Sarathi Behera.

The Minister further said the state government will move court to seek clarification on the validity of admission of 37 other students in the college.
