Claiming to be in possession of video evidence, a group of students from the college alleged that cash was distributed by the candidate, who got elected for the president’s post.

“I have enough evidence to prove that cash was being distributed to win votes. We demand disqualification of the president-elect,” said a defeated candidate, Jay Muduli.

On the other hand, the elected president of the college, M Akash claimed that such allegations are made to defame him.

“Students have voted for the candidate they thought deserving. I am not involved in any unfair means. Such allegations are made out of jealousy,” alleged Akash.

Meanwhile, the student wings of BJD, BJP and Congress have engaged in mudslinging over such cash-for-votes allegations during student elections in various colleges.

NSUI advisor, Manoj Biswal said, “The incident exposed how BJD gets votes in elections. BJD can go to any level to win votes.”

“BJD’s modus operandi has always been to get votes in exchange of money,” alleged ABVP advisor, Tanmaya Dash.

Meanwhile, the Biju Chhatra Janata Dal advisor, Chinmay Sahu said both the BJP and Congress are getting impatient following defeat in the student elections. “Such allegations are being made to defame candidates,” he said.
