Preparations put in place for fifth phase Panchayat Polls

Bhubaneswar: Elaborate arrangements have been made for the fifth and final phase Panchayat polls beginning in Odisha tomorrow.

Talking to media persons here today, State Election Commission (SEC) secretary Rabindranath Sahu said polling for 1173 Sarpanch and 16,148 Samiti Member posts in 149 Zilla Parishad zones will be held in 26 districts.

"Barring Angul, Boudh, Jharsuguda and Malkangiri, elections will be held in the remaining 26 districts in which a total of 44,50,893 voters will exercise their franchise," he said.

Sahu said preparations to conduct the elections are complete. "The polling parties from many districts have been transferred and joined duty last night and the remaining polling parties will reach their respective polling booth by this evening," he added.
