Bhubaneswar: Ahead of students' union polls, tension ran high on Utkal University campus here following a clash between two groups of students on Wednesday evening.

The scuffle left two students including presidential candidate Soumya Ranjan Mohapatra injured. He was rushed to Capital Hospital while another injured was admitted to a private clinic.

Mohapatra lodged a complaint at Saheed Nagar police station alleging that he was attacked by some outsiders in the hostel.

The outsiders along with some students from the rival group attacked him with sharp weapons while he was campaigning in the hostel, he alleged.

Meanwhile, one platoon police has been deployed in the varsity to maintain law and order.
