Puri: Taking a stern note of violation of rituals at Puri Srimandir, the temple administration on Saturday sought a report in connection with the sale of prasad allegedly without being offered to the deities.

Sri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) administrator (Rituals) Pradip Das informed that already the commander has been asked to submit a report and subsequently action will be taken in connection with the incident.

Earlier, Suar Sevayat Gadadhar Dixit was suspended for allegedly selling dal prasad at Anand Bazar without offering it to the deities as per rituals inside Puri Srimandir on Thursday.

Action was taken after some servitors of Suar Nijog lodged a complaint with Mahasuar Nijog regarding such violation at the temple.

"It is an unfortunate incident. We have already suspended the servitor and a meeting has been convened to decide further course of action," said Narayan Mohapatra, joint secretary Suar Mahasuar Nijog.
