Bhubaneswar: Bhubaneswar deputy commissioner of police (DCP) Satyabrata Bhoi today said the Commissionerate Police will consider taking steps against Artha Tatwa (AT) chief Pradip Sethi for his attempt to commit suicide in Jharpada jail here late last night after getting a formal report from the jail authorities.

Bhoi told newsmen, “We have only received the information informally from the jail authorities. Once we get a formal report from them, we will decide on what to do in this matter.”

Jharpada jail superintendent Rabindra Swain said, “Nothing major has happened to Pradip. He is safe. His suicide bid was just a ploy to threaten the jail authorities.”

He further stated, “He is in the ward after getting required treatment from the jail doctor. An extra warder has been deployed to keep an eye on him.”

Meanwhile, Sethy’s wife visited the jail today morning to enquire about his health. But she was not allowed to meet her husband as public meeting is prohibited on holidays.
