Bhubaneswar: Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan thanked the people of Odisha today as BJP again emerged as a tight competitor for the ruling BJD in the third phase panchayat polls. Pradhan mentioned that the people of Odisha have dismissed inefficient, paralysed, anti-poor and corrupt governance.
Besides, various welfare schemes which were introduced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, especially demonetisation has gained the support of the people for him, which is seen in the results of the panchayat polls. “This trend will continue to be seen in fourth and fifth phase of the panchayat polls,” said Pradhan.
When asked about the issue of BJD claiming to be number one, Pradhan said, “I do not want to enter into the controversy but in respect of political stand I must say, in democracy those who remain boastful they get punished by people.” While big mouth leaders were calling BJP as ‘Dengue’, Malaria and Encephalitis hit Malkangiri has given them a fitting reply, he said. The people of Jagatsinghpur were also thanked by Pradhan mentioning the victory of BJP in Kujang.
Reacting on the allegations of BJD spokesperson Sashi Bhusan Behera alleging Pradhan of misusing IOCL, the Union Minister said, “Behera only reads what are given to him by the bureaucrats, after some time he will say that we are alleging against Odia people, I fear those who are shameless.”
Mentioning about the failure of BJP in the constituency of its State Chief, Pradhan said the final result till date shows that the saffron party has reached into the house of the poor.
In reaction to the statements of Pradhan, BJD spokesperson Sashi Bhusan Behera said, “We have reached the third phase results of the panchayat polls in the three-tier Panchayati Raj system and two phases are still remaining, I don’t want to keep reply on the dramatic statements being given on this topic. But, BJP should be clear about its pathetic situation in the polls as where our block and panchayat level leaders face the panchayat polls, the saffron party had to rope in various leaders from the Centre, even Chief Ministers and ex-Chief Ministers of neighbouring States had to rush in to campaign for the polls after which the BJP came to second position from the third position.”
Behera even added, “The five phase polls are still remaining, we are number one and will remain number one. No such change has been seen in the elections for which the BJP is getting excited. It should check its own pathetic situation, the samiti members and sarpanchs who have won in the polls are still in support of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.” He even added anyone should not make personal comments regarding panchayat poll results which in undemocratic.
“I know Pradhan and if he gets happy after giving such remarks, I have nothing to say,”said Behera against the statement of Pradhan mentioning the former as shameless.
