Bhubaneswar: Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan today wrote a letter to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik requesting him to attend the ground breaking ceremony of a LNG Terminal at the Dhamra Port in Bhadrak district.

The 'Bhumi Pujan' programme for the Rs 6,000 crores project is scheduled to be held on July 8.

Pradhan has mentioned that besides the investment in the LNG terminal, an amount of Rs 4,500 crore will be invested for the pipeline and city gas distribution programme. Altogether 2,539 km of gas pipeline network will be laid under the ambitious project, he added.

The project will benefit the eastern states including Odisha. The natural gas from the terminal will also be supplied to various city gas distribution networks in eastern India.

Dhamra will be the sixth LNG project announced on the east coast.
