Bhawanipatna: With the incident of a man carrying his wife’s body on his shoulders for 10 kms on Wednesday having created national and international outrage, the political parties in the state are leaving no opportunity to squeeze some political millage out of the unfortunate incident.

While a six-member Congress fact finding team visited the village of Dana Majhi, the man who carried his wife’s body on his shoulders after being denied a hearse vehicle by authorities at the district hospital here, yesterday, a fact finding team of the BJP on Sunday visited the spot today to enquire about the incident.

According to reports, an eight-member BJP Bteam headed by MLA Rabi Nayak visited the spot. The team will prepare a report after investigating the incident and will submit the report to the state BJP president, party’s vice president Sameer Mohanty informed.

Not content with the fact finding team's visit yesterday, Congress is also organising a ‘Padyatra’ from Melghar, the village of Dana Majhi, to Bhawanipatna today. The 60 km long rally, which will be headed by senior leader Bhakta Charan Das, will reach here tomorrow.

Congress activists will also gherao the collector’s office on August 29, party sources said.
