Angul: In a tragic incident, two persons were killed and two others sustained critical injuries after a police van hit two bikes at Charibati chhak under Chendipada police limits here on Wednesday night.

The deceased have been identified as Bhagi Nayak of Patakmunda village and Uday Nayak of Sangapala village.

According to sources, the incident took place at around 9 pm yesterday when the van of Kundeigola police station was on its way to Chendipada.

The van hit two bikes at Charibati chhak causing the death of two persons on the spot and leaing two others critically injured, sources added.

The injured persons were admitted to Chendipada hospital.

Irate over the incident, locals staged a road blockade on Deogarh-Angul road bringing vehicular movement to a grinding halt. However, they withdraw their strike after police intervention.
