Berhampur: Sadar police took arrested former Sanakhemundi Congress MLA Ramesh Jena on a five-day remand starting Saturday.

According to sources, police will interrogate Jena for more information on his involvement in the land grab at Nimakhandi area during the remand period.

Earlier, police had arrested Arakhita Jena, father of the Congress leader, former corporator Murali Mohan and a builder for their involvement in the land grab case.

The Sub Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) court here on Wednesday allowed Sadar police to take Jena on a five-day remand.

Police had appealed to the court to take Jena on a seven-day remand for interrogation on his involvement in a land grab case, but the court granted remand for only five days.

On April 2, one Rabindra Sahu had registered a land grab case (No 45/16) against Jena at Sadar police station.

In his complaint, Sahu had alleged that the former legislator had grabbed three acres of land in Nimakhandi area on the outskirts of Berhampur.
