Bhubaneswar: The relatives of the Kunduli gang rape victim have alleged that police had issued threats to the family to withdraw the case.

A week after the victim was discharged from SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, the police had come to her house in the middle of a night and threatened her along with her aunt, mother and other family members, said a family member of the victim who committed suicide on January 22.

The family members alleged that a police team had asked them to go out of the house leaving the victim alone.

"A team of police from Pottangi, Koraput and Semiliguda barged into our house in the middle of a night and threatened us. When I raised voice, I was thrown out of the house. They also thrashed my niece," victim's aunt said while speaking during the public debate programme of OTV -'Janamanch'.

She further alleged that the police had also tortured her niece physically after locking the door from inside.

The mother, brother and aunt of the victim along with some villagers narrated their ordeal during an episode of the 'Janamanch' programme shot in Kunduli.

Comments from Police on the allegations could not be obtained.
