Cuttack: With police continuing its investigation into the Rs 17.8 lakh cash loot from the Corporation Bank ATM near High Court Chhak in Cuttack, the city DCP said that they are suspecting it to be a cyber crime. Police suspects the ATM’s server was hacked following which a new password was generated to withdraw the money from the ATM.

According to sources, police have established that two persons were involved in the robbery after analyzing the Close Circuit Television Camera (CCTV) footage. Moreover, the DCP informed that they have identified the gang involved in the robbery. A special team of the Commissionerate Police is currently investigating the case with help from forensic and cyber crime experts.

“Primarily it is a case of cyber crime and the miscreants have used some technology to access the servers of the ATM. From preliminary investigations it is suspected that these people are professionals,” said Cuttack DCP, Sanjeev Arora.

Notably, in a startling robbery, the miscreants had looted Rs 17.48 lakh from the ATM. The loot came into light when the bank authorities checked the statement.

A case in this regard was registered in Lalbagh Police Station.
