Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate police on Sunday seized the mobile phone of deceased Ashutosh Mohanty (Rishi), whose death is still shrouded in mystery after a sex clip, allegedly possessed by him is believed to be the cause of his death.

Police said the phone will be sent for forensic test.

“In course of inquiry, we have seized the cell phone of the deceased. Very soon we will send it to the Central Forensic Laboratory for examination.....We will also get to know the contents of the phone once the report is received”, Police Commissioner YB Khurania said.

In a related development the Orissa Human Rights Commission (OHRC) has recently sought report from the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Bhubaneswar over the death of Mohanty.

Acting on the petition of rights activist Akhand about the inaction of Bhubaneswar police in unearthing the mystery over the death of Rishi, the Commission has directed the DCP to submit an inquiry report within three weeks.

It is alleged in the petition that in the evening of May 5, 2016, Rishi was with his friends and after dinner, he vomited and lost his sense for which he was immediately shifted to the Capital Hospital, Bhubaneswar for treatment, where he was declared dead on May 6 evening.
