Baripada: Town police on Saturday night rescued 20 minor girls while they were being taken away to Kolkata by a bus.

From primary investigation, it was found that the rescued girls are residents of Bhadrak, Jagatsinghpur and Puri districts, sources in police said.

The girls were going to the neighbouring state to work in a prawn farm, the police official added.

“After interrogating them, it was found that some of them were working at a prawn farm in Kolkata. Later, they returned to the state and were working at a prawn farm at Balasore. As they were not satisfied here, they were going back to Kolkata again,” Ray added.
