Keonjhar: The district police on Tuesday raided at a gas agency owned by the Keonjhar District BJP president Radhakant Mahanta on charges of selling gas cylinders at prices higher than the demarcated one to Ujjwala beneficiaries in Khireitangiri under Turumunga police limits.

The police raid was conducted at Jay Shreeram Indane Gramin Vitarak and 674 cooking gas cylinders were seized from the gas agency.

Commenting on the police search, Mahanta stated, “The raid was undertaken to settle political scores. After the sunset, police cannot search the premises of an organisation. As I am working as the BJP District president, the raid is a ploy to check the growing popularity of the party in the area.
