Malkangiri: Kaliemela police on Tuesday arrested two persons in connection with the double murder near Venkatpalam village under Kaliemela block on November 18 here in the district.

The two arrested persons have been identified as Ratnaya Majhi and Durjo Pandara.

Earlier, mutilated bodies of  the two persons, identified as Enkat Rao and Lachama Kurami were found near a canal in Venkatpalam.

After investigation by Kaliemela police and forensic team, the two accused were arrested today. The murder seems to be executed on the basis of suspicion that the two were practising witchcraft, informed IIC of  Kaliemela, Rama Nag.

"Two persons from Venkatpalam village were detained and interrogated and later they admitted to their crime. The weapon used in the murder has also been recovered," he added.
