Bhubaneswar: Laxmisagar Police today interrogated film producer Rajesh Pati in connection with the casting couch allegation brought against him by actress Upasana Mohanty.

Upasana had lodged a complaint at the Laxmisagar police station on July 27 accusing him of attempting casting couch on her. Acting on her complaint, police had recorded her statement under Section 161 of the CrPC the next day.

Earlier in the day, the police registered a case against Pati under Sec 506 of IPC (criminal intimidation) and Sec 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman).

The Ollywood actress had registered a fresh complaint against Rajesh on July 30 at Laxmisagar police station for circulating an intimate video of the duo in the social media.

She had alleged that Pati had not taken her permission before circulating the ‘intimate’ video in the media. She said the young film producer had taken the video during their ‘happier days’ despite her reluctance.

Notably, in a media briefing on July 21 this year, Pati had alleged that Upasana had threatened to implicate him in a false case of casting couch case whenever he spoke to her to get his money back.

He had said Upasana had signed for his film ‘Gudia Rani’ in September 2015 for which a token amount was paid to her as advance. The film was scheduled to be completed in 45 days. But as the film could not proceed due to unavoidable reasons, he had asked her to return the amount. But she threatened to implicate him on casting couch charges.
