Berhampur: The Sub Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) court here on Wednesday allowed Sadar police to take arrested former Sanakhemundi Congress MLA Ramesh Jena on a five-day remand.

Police had appealed to the court to take Jena on a seven-day remand for interrogation on his involvement in a land grab case, but the court granted five-day remand.

On April 2, some Rabindra Sahu had registered a land grab case (No 45/16) against Jena at Sadar police station.

In his complaint, Sahu had alleged that the former legislator has grabbed three acre of land in Nimakhandi area on the outskirts of Berhampur.

Meanwhile, the court of Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC), allowed the local police to take Krupasinhu Muduli, aide of Jena, on a two-day remand.
