Bhubaneswar/Cuttack: Floral tributes and gun salutes to the martyrs marked the  58th Police Commemoration Day, observed today across the State.

At the Police headquarters in Cuttack, a two-minute prayer was held as a mark of  respect to the departed souls. Besides, the police band paid special tributes to the martyrs. DGP RP Sharma and other top cops were among the dignitaries present at the function.

"Nine officers of Odisha lost their lives last year on duty. The State Police today paid tributes to those martyrs," the DGP said.

In Bhubaneswar, Twin City Police Commissioner YB Khurania graced the commemoration function as the chief guest. "We remember those officers who lay their lives for the country on this day every year," Khurania stated.

Similarly, Puri SP Sarthak Sadangi attended the commemoration day programme at the Reserve Police ground in Puri.

Last year 379 police and para military personnel from across India lost their lives while performing their duties.
