Police attacked during raid on gambling den in Borigumma

Jeypore: A police team led by Borigumma SDPO was attacked at Kumuli village while conducting raids on a gambling den late last night.

The attack occurred after an argument and scuffle between the police staff and the villagers.

The incident occurred while acting on a tip-off the team of more than 20 cops raided the spot at Kumuli where gambling was allegedly being undertaken. Though some police staff managed to escape, some were detained by the villagers in a room and later released.

Two police vehicles were also damaged by the locals.

Police have lodged a FIR against the persons involved in the attack and initiated action.

Sources said usually locals take part in gambling on occasion of the Kumara Purnima for fun. But in past few days gambling had been a source of earning quick bucks for some groups in the area.
