Cuttack: An Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) with Commissionerate Police has been arrested for allegedly molesting a 11-year-old minor girl at Chandraseipur village under Salepur police limits.
The accused identified as Krushna Chandra Jena, who is posted as ASI at Badambadi police station in Cuttack was arrested on Tuesday.
Jena was arrested basing on a complaint lodged by the girl's mother at Salepur police station.
The girl's family was staying in the house of the ASI at Chandradeipur on rent for the last five years.
On March 3, the accused ASI visited their house on pretext of repairing a defunct water pipe and sexually abused the minor girl after finding her alone in the house.
Following the incident, the mother of the minor lodged an FIR at Salepur police station.
A case under section 354 (sexual harassment), 506 (criminal intimidation), 34 of IPC, 8/10 and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POSCO Act) has been registered against the accused official, sources said.
