Bhubaneswar: Irregularities in allotment of plots in Odisha under the Discretionary Quota (DQ) have again come to the fore with a Special Audit coming out with the names of minors in the list of beneficiaries.

A copy of the draft report of the special report available with OTV reveals that plots were allotted to minors- which is a complete violation of the prescribed government norms.

The General Administration department has allotted plots to two minors from Ghatikia in Bhubaneswar. Similarly, another minor is also the owner of a plot allotted by State Housing Board at Kalarahanga.

The report also points out that an HIG duplex house sold at Rs 3.60 lakh at Baramunda was subsequently sold for Rs 23 lakh.

As per the findings in the special audit report, multiple plot allotments were also made to several individuals belonging to the same families by submitting false affidavits.

Several influential people including bureaucrats are also allegedly involved in the irregularities. However, the finance minister said that appropriate action would be taken after departmental review.

Earlier, the General Administration had asked the Finance Department to conduct a special audit on plot allotments made under discretionary quota between January 1995 and 2015 by BDA, CDA and Housing Board.

Prior to the development, the Taradutta Task Force Committee had exposed the corruption in allotment of plots under the discretionary quota.
