Bhubaneswar: A thick blanket of security has been made for the People's Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA) week of the Maoists with combing and anti-insurgency operations being intensified in several parts of Odisha.

Bus services in eight routes in Rayagada, Kandhamal and other few pockets in Malkangiri district have been suspended as a precautionary measure, sources said.

On the other hand, the Maoists have called for observance of the PLGA week and have put up posters at Mahupadar and Kalimela areas in Malkangiri district.

Besides, a permanent camp building has been constructed suspected by the rebels in the district which is likely to be inaugurated at Totaguda today.

Senior police officials informed that already special measures have been taken to beef up security measures in Maoist hotbeds and border areas have been sealed.

All the vehicles are now being thoroughly checked and combing operations have been intensified.
