Puri: After almost 50 days of the sensational triple murder in Pipili, police today arrested two persons, including the prime accused in connection with the case. The arrested have been identified as Imtiaz Ali and his son Ilaz.

After arresting the duo, police officials informed that Imtiaz along with his son committed the crime to avenge his daughter's harassment by her in-laws.

As per police sources, the duo locked three from her in-laws' family, including her father-in-law Md Abul (65), his wife Rahima (55) and their 12-year-old minor girl, from outside when they were sleeping inside and set ablaze the house by pouring kerosene.

Sustaining severe burn injuries, all three were rushed to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack where they died while undergoing treatment.

Meanwhile, in another gruesome murder that took place in Chandrukata village under Satyabadi block of Puri district in December 30 last year, police has failed to arrest the accused. As per reports, one Pushpalata Das was allegedly killed by some dacoits when she was alone in her house.

The incident had taken place when Pushpalata's son, who owns a mobile repair shop, had gone to Bhubaneswar to buy necessary equipment for his shop.

His son has alleged even after three months, police has failed to arrest the accused. "Its been three months and police hasn't taken a single step. I have been knocking the doors of Satyabadi IIC, Delang IIC and SP. They have been telling me that investigation is on but there's no development," said Laxmidhar Das, Pushpalata's son.

On the other hand, Puri SP Sarthak Sadangi said, "We have identified the persons involved and their motive behind the crime. All the accused will be arrested in a day or two."
