Puri: Justice BP Das Commission of Inquiry for Reforms in Srimandir on Tuesday sought report from the Law secretary, Sri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA), Puri Collector and SP after photos of repair works of Jagamohan, the hall facing the sanctum sanctorum of the 12th century shrine were found posted on social media.
Justice BP Das Commission has directed the authorities to submit a detailed report in connection with the incident within 10 days.
Moreover, the Commission attributed that the recommendations made for strengthening security at the temple are not being followed while persons who have posted such pictures on social media should be identified and be arrested if required.
According to reports, the pictures are believed to have been taken during a scientific investigation inside the Jagamohan and the sanctum sanctorum of Srimandir during Rath Yatra this year.
One Sadanand Sharma, an official of Miner’s Health and Safety, Central Institute of Mining and Fuel Research (CSIR) had posted the pictures on his Facebook page, sources said.
Puri Sri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) Chief Pradeep Jena informed that Sharma was earlier associated with the conservation of temple project.
“Sharma has apologized to all the devotees of the Puri Sri Jagannath Temple for posting the pictures on Facebook,” informed Jena.
Official sources said, Sharma in a message claimed that he was aware of the sensitivity of the conservation matter and all the pictures have been removed from his Facebook page.
The pictures inside the temple going viral on social media have once again elicited sharp reactions from devotees and servitors who have questioned the security arrangements inside the temple.
Earlier, a woman devotee had also posted her selfie believed to have been taken inside the temple in September this year.
