Cuttack: Vigilance officials on Tuesday raided several properties of Adhikari Ashok Kumar Chatarjee, Regional officer of the Odisha State Pollution Control Board (OSPCB), Rayagada and ex-Regional officer of the OSPCB, Balasore on the allegation of amassing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

Officials of the anti-malware corruption wing conducted simultaneous searches on his rented house at Nehuru Nagar and office chamber at Kasturi Nagar in Rayagada Town, a double storied building at Bhimpura, in Balasore Town, a flat at Nayapalli and a double storied Building at Badaraghunathpur near Gohira Chhaka in Bhubaneswar.

The officials also raided a quarter of his son at Birla Tyres Colony Bamapada in Balasore and parental house at Badapada village in Pattamundai of Kendrapara district.

During the raid, total movable and immovable assets amounting to Rs 1,13,63,699 were detected in the name of Chatarjee and his family members.

While the cost of the double-storied building at Bhimpura was valued at `17,33,440, the cost of another double storied building at Badaraghunathpur near Gohira Chhaka in Bhubaneswar was calculated at `50,92,346. The apartment in Nayapalli was estimated at 2,30,000 while the Vigilance sleuths calculated the amount of the land at Baleswar at `72,000 and another one in Bhubaneswar at `27,189. The sleuths also detected `13,40,441 bank deposits in different banks in his name and his relatives too while postal deposits worth `5,13,000 was also traced.
