Puri: ‘Patitapabana bana’, the holy flag fixed atop Nilachakra of Puri Jagannath Temple snapped off late last night again due to strong gusty winds.

The detaching of the flag from Nilachakra will not have any impact on any rituals as other flags fixed atop the temple remain unaffected, informed temple administration sources. As per temple tradition, if other flags had fallen off Nilachakra, rituals would have been changed accordingly.

Early this month, a holy flag had snapped off the Sri Jagannath temple 'sikhara'.

In a similar kind of incident, last year on October 6, one of the flags hoisted atop the Sri Jagannath temple had caught fire in a lightning strike.
