Nayagarh: The Saranakul Community Health Centre (CHC) of Nayagarh district witnessed protests following death of a patient due to alleged medical negligence. The deceased has been identified as Bansidhar Gahana of Sikharpur. However, the protestors were pacified only after police and district administration officials held discussion with the local villagers and family members.

According to reports, Bansidhar Gahana of Sikharpur was admitted to the CHC for treatment. However, the doctor on duty, was not present at the centre. Irked, the patient’s attendants protested and levelled allegations on negligence in treatment against the concerned doctor.

The angry mob detained two doctors in the hospital for three hours which adversely affected patient care at the hospital.

Demanding compensation for the family members of the deceased, the locals staged a road blockade and pressed for action against the erring doctors.
