Parlakhemundi MLA stages road blockade against autocracy of RTO officials

Gajapati: Parlakhemundi Congress MLA K Surya Rao along with some of his supporters on Thursday staged a road blockade at Ranipentha square under Parlakhemundi police limits of Gajapati district against autocracy of district RTO officials.

Hundreds of vehicles were stranded on both sides of the road due to the agitation.

The agitators alleged that the revenue department officials are collecting hefty fines from people at their own sweet will. Such high-handedness of the authorities has led to resentment among public.

Rao and his supporters demanded that the regional transport officer should be suspended and transferred immediately.

The road blockade was withdrawn after Parlakhemundi SDPO reached at the spot and held discussion with the MLA.
