Bhubaneswar: Noted novelist Paramita Satpathy will receive the prestigious Kendra Sahitya Akademi Award for the year 2016 for her novel collection ‘Prapti’.

The novel collection ‘Prapti’ which includes 10 short novels has depicted women who have earned a name in their respective field of work, as the lead.

‘Prapti’ has also been published in some other languages and has been appreciated by the readers.

Talking to OTV over phone, Satpathy, “I am extremely happy after I got the news. Besides, wishes from my family members, friends, and well wishers have doubled my happiness.”

“I have never expected for the award as selection for the prestigious award is made in a unique way. I am happy that the jury liked my book and selected me,” Satpathy added.

Satpathy, who has seven collections of short stories and a novel to her credit, has also written some popular books like- ‘Kurei Fula’, ‘Apathacharini’, ‘Narikabi O Anyamane’, ‘Antaranga Chala’, ‘Birala Rupaka’, ‘Bhashakhyara’, ‘Bibidha Swapna’, ‘Chandan ke Phool’, ‘Intimate Pretence’ and ‘Dur ke Pahad.

Many of her novels have also been translated in Hindi, English, Bengali, Telugu and Marathi languages.

Paramita who had joined Indian Revenue Services in 1989, is currently posted as the commissioner of the Income Tax department.
