Cuttack: In the wake of the much talked about suicide of Parala Palace manager Ananga Manjari Patra and her three family members, the Odisha Crime Branch today began interrogation of Paralakhemundi Municipality Bibhuti Nayak and Congress leader Sudhi Ranjan Mohapatra today.

As per the directive of the Crime Branch, Nayak and Mohapatra today arrived at the Crime Branch headquarters here this morning for interrogation.

Asked about the incident, the duo said they have come here as per the directive of the Crime Branch and they will cooperate with the investigating agency in this matter.

As informed by a senior Crime Branch official, nine persons including Paralakhemundi MLA K Suriya Rao would also be interrogated.

As the name some persons including Rao and some organisations has been mentioned in the complaint lodged by the family members of Ananga Manjari and three suicide notes, the Crime Branch will probe into the role of these persons and organisations in the suicide of four family members, sources in the Crime Branch said.

Notably, of the four family members, two of them had consumed poison, one had hung himself and another had taken excess drugs inside their house on August 21.

While Ananga and her elder sister Bijaylaxmi had apparently consumed poison, the body of their brother Sanjay, who had resigned as the Maharaja’s PA recently, was found hanging. Another brother Santosh Patra alias Tulu, who was rescued by the police in a critical condition and admitted to the MKCG hospital in Berhampur died later on August 22. As per the viscera report, the death of Santosh was due to drug overdose.
